of Megève (French Alps)
The town of Megève has cable cars and chairlifts that climb to the pistes of Le Mont d’Arbois, Rochebrune and Le Jaillet. The Evasion Mont Blanc ski area boasts a remarkable 219 pistes, with a skiable area of 445 kilometres, ranging in altitude from 1,113 to 2,500 metres. An easily accessed area thanks to its 107 ski lifts, and always snow-covered in winter with the use of its 647 snow cannons.
But the town offers so much more than skiing. Megève offers a wide and varied range of things to do for all the family (throughout the year), such as ice skating, light sport aircraft excursions, tours on elegant horse-drawn carriages, paintball, and even a wide range of spa treatments in the sports centre. Megève is also known for its outstanding regional produce, which includes cakes, pastries and cheese that you can sample in the region’s marvellous cafes and restaurants, which include our own hotel restaurant, Le Gourmandier.
And how could it be otherwise. After a day skiing in these incredible mountains, it is time to enjoy the night in the casino, bars and discos, or local venues like the Cinq Rues Jazz Club, a great spot for those who love their music live. There is also a varied calendar of events throughout the year, which you can download from our website from October.
There is a lot to see and do in the region around the town, with the beautiful Swiss city of Geneva approximately 70 kilometres away, the mountain city of Chamonix just 30km away, and what we call “the Venice of France”, more correctly known as Annecy, 60km from Megève, where you can visit its lakeside, museums and exceptional medieval castle.
